Vining Sparks on CNBC

by Craig Dismuke, Dudley Carter

Vining Sparks’ Chief Economist Craig Dismuke appeared on CNBC’s Nightly Business Report Thursday to discuss what to expect from the Federal Reserve’s December meeting and monetary policy beginning in 2019. The macroeconomic data, specifically related to the labor market and inflation, should result in another rate increase when the Fed meets on December 19. However, with policy nearer their neutral estimates, inflation softer in recent months, and a growing list of uncertainties facing the economy, Fed policy should become less predictable and more data dependent in the new year. This is consistent with the tone from recent Fed communications that has stressed data dependency. Click the image below to view the full interview.
